Inter County Competition Results Sheffield October 2022

A good time was had by all the Cheshire swimmers competing in Division 2 of the Inter County Competition in which half the individual races produced personal best short course times for our swimmers.

13 yr old Daniel Khodaverdi (Stockport Metro) made it two firsts with wins in the 100 Freestyle, in which he knocked over a second off his short course PB (Personal Best), and later in the programme he took top spot in the 100 Fly with a time which equalled his best.

Together with Max Offord (Altrincham), Tom Bidgood and Jasper Weller (both Satellites and who both recorded PB’s) the team finished in fourth place in their Medley event.

Both Sophie Traill (Stockport Metro) and Sophie Weston (Warrington Warriors) finished at the top of their respective events, the 14/15yrs 100 fly and the 16/17yrs 100m Back, again both girls recording  PB’s .

Davey Unwin, Reece Grady, Kaiden Welsby and Toby Andrews, fought hard in the 16/17yrs Medley team, to make it an excellent second place – all recorded personal best times.

Runners-up spot also went to  Jasmine Bouaziz (Warrington Warriors) in her individual event the 12/13yrs 100 Fly. She then joined forces with Peiqi Wu, Abbie Roscoe and Ruby Sims who all  put in a great swims to win their medley relay.

Individual third places went to Kaiden Welsby (Stockport Metro) – 16/17yrs 100 Fly,  Abbie Roscoe (Wirral Metro) Girls 100m Breast, Eliza Pinkstone (Stockport Metro) 16/17 100m Fly,  Tom McCabe (Stockport Metro) 16/17yrs 100m Fly and  Peiqi Wu (Stockport Metro) 12/13yrs 100m Back.

Two more relay teams which performed well for the County were the Girls 16/17yrs Medley and Mixed Cannon relay.

Sophie and Eliza were joined by Beth Robinson (Stockport Metro) and Carys Roberts (Winsford) and the last event of the contest, the mixed Cannon relay which consisted of Ruby Sims, Gabriella Hunt (Warriors), Carys Roberts, Daniel Khodaverdi, Ronnie Weall (Warrington Warriors) and Tom Andrews.

The team overall finished in 5th position just a few points short of being promoted to Division 1, but nevertheless an excellent performance all round.

A big THANK YOU goes to the team staff –  Coaches Craig Ward (Trafford Metro) and Ben Cleavley (Satellites) and Team Managers Kate Offord (Altrincham) and Vicky Gerrard (Warriors) for all their hard work.
