On October 6th, 2024, the Cheshire Swim Team competed at the Inter County Championships held in Sheffield, delivering a series of impressive performances across various events. Despite challenging competition, Cheshire finished 18th out of 20 teams, with a strong finish from their relay squads lifting them from 20th place in the final four events.
Individual Highlights:
Men’s Top 3 Swims:
- 3rd Place: Elliott – 1:02.5 in the 100m Butterfly
- 2nd Place: Gus – 1:07.2 in the 100m Butterfly
- 1st Place: Tom – 59.5 in the 100m Freestyle
Ladies’ Top 3 Swims:
- 3rd Place: Petra – 1:12.09 in the 100m Breaststroke
- 2nd Place: Zoey – 58.2 in the 100m Freestyle
- 1st Place: Kate – 1:03.5 in the 100m Backstroke
Relay Success:
- 2nd Place: 14-15 Years Ladies’ Medley Relay
- 1st Place: 16-17 Years Ladies’ Medley Relay
A Strong Team Effort:
The Cheshire Swim Team made an impressive comeback during the final relays, pushing the team to a well-deserved 18th place overall. The athletes, alongside their dedicated team managers, officials, coaches, and supportive parents, contributed to a day of resilience and team spirit. Special recognition goes to Sophie Traill, the Ladies’ Team Captain, and Tom O’Brien, the Men’s Team Captain, for their leadership both in and out of the pool.
Whether competing in one, two, or three events, every swimmer’s effort counted, and the collective support until the very end helped fuel a great finish for Cheshire.
