The closing date for the 2027 Cheshire County Age group Championships was previously published as 9th December 2026. The swimming committee became aware very recently that due to unforeseen circumstances Macclesfield Leisure centre was unavailable on the preferred dates for the County Championships. The committee explored alternative venues and dates but concluded that our only option was to bring the championships and closing date forward by one week. However, the closing date now fell within the festive holiday period when people are unlikely to access email etc. We took the considered decision that in order to allow sufficient time for the organisers to obtain volunteers the date should be moved to before the Christmas break, the 9th December was agreed as a suitable date.
In response to feedback from several clubs we held an emergency meeting to discuss the impact on swimmers and licensed meets. In order to give the best opportunity for the swimmers we have agreed to update the closing date to 23rd December 2026 at 23:59.
This change of date brings increased risk to the championships and presents some significant operational challenges. We trust that clubs will acknowledge this and ask that you help us by providing details of any volunteers, officials and administrative staff along with the sessions which they will cover as soon as possible (even before the accepted entries are published if possible) to ensure the smooth planning in the run up to the competition.
We aim to have the accepted entries published as soon as we can before 30th of December and stress that all clubs must use the genuine “Sportsystems entry manager”. Do not use any software claiming to be compatible as this causes issues in processing the entries, we do not have time to address such issues due to the later closing date. Any entries submitted by other systems will be rejected.
We hope that we will have sufficient support that this change in date does not affect the running of the competition.
