County Competition Update May 2021

The county executive and competitive swimming group have been keeping a close watch on the ever changing Coronavirus regulations along with Swim England’s guidance. It is clear that circumstances prevent the staging of the County Junior Meet and the Age Group Championships for 2021. However, we encourage clubs to hold level 4 meets wherever possible and take part in Level X events to obtain up to date times which may be used for entry into upcoming Cheshire County competitions.

Competition Licensing

Swim England has announced that subject to the Government roadmap for easing of restrictions, Level 4 single club meets can take place from 17 May 2021, with licensing application process commencing from 26 April 2021.

Provisional plans for January/February 2022

The working group is liaising with the pool operators across the region and exploring options to hold an Age Group Competition in January/February 2022. The format of the competition may be different to the conventional Age Group Championships.

The swimmers times on the Swim England rankings which are normally used in the entry criteria will be up to two years old. Consequently, we are planning to accept entry times from Level X and Level 4 competitions and we encourage clubs to take part in these events.

We are aware that many of the clubs within the county will be unable to run a level 4 meet safely and in compliance with Covid restrictions, this is why we plan to accept Level X times for entry to our competitions.
